Expanding Learning Space at Essex Primary School

Over the summer of 2025, S-Grid the non-residential arm of Mbloc Ltd successfully delivered two brand-new classroom units for a Primary School in Essex, ensuring they were ready for the new academic year in September.

Meeting the School's Growing Needs
With limited time available before the new term, the school needed a fast, reliable solution that would provide additional capacity without causing disruption to pupils and staff.

On top of this, the site posed a unique challenge, the only available area for one of the classrooms was a tight space beside a large tree. This meant that a traditional builder would have struggled to deliver the project due to access restrictions and ground limitations.

Our Solution
We installed two self-contained classroom units, each designed to provide modern, comfortable space for both staff and students. The units were fitted with:
- Full teaching facilities
- Dedicated staff amenities
- Energy-efficient systems to support the school’s sustainability goals

Using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), we were able to build in the tight space, working carefully around the tree roots and restricted access. The project was completed entirely within the school holidays, ensuring the new classrooms were fully operational in time for the September return.

Benefits to the School
- Speed of delivery - completed in weeks
- Minimal disruption - all work was carried out while the school was closed for summer
- Access solved - MMC enabled us to build in a location previously deemed unbuildable
- Future-ready design - flexible, high-quality spaces built to meet long-term needs

This project highlights how S-Grid can help schools expand quickly and efficiently, even when working with challenging sites where traditional building methods may struggle. By combining sustainability, quality, and speed, we provide practical solutions that allow schools to focus on what matters most - teaching and learning.
